NICEorg RELEASES THE ANNUAL “NICE CULTURAL ENTERPRISES INVESTMENT REPORT 2022”

NICEorg in collaboration with Venture Intelligence launched the second NICE Cultural Enterprises Investment Report 2022 that tracks Private Equity and Venture Capital investments for Indian cultural enterprises for the year 2022. This report follows the country’s first Cultural Enterprises Investment Report 2021 and tracks investments in Indian cultural enterprises belonging to the five NICE Focus Sectors

We are also delighted to share that the report covers cultural enterprises funded by NICE Investors. These include MeMeraki, KandeeFactory, Indic Inspirations and Ayurythm. The report also covers successful fundraising by 17 cultural enterprises via Shark Tank India (Season 1), cumulating to  $1.38 million (₹10.3 crore) attesting to the growing cultural enterprises ecosystem that NICorg aims to foster.

Investments in cultural businesses are of critical importance for India’s cultural entrepreneurship ecosystem to shape up. The NICE Cultural Enterprises Investment Report is a one-of-its-kind study to help cultural entrepreneurs, investors and corporate leaders and researchers understand the opportunities and activities in the cultural enterprise landscape.  It provides data covering investment amounts, companies that raised funds, market trends,  exits and geographical distribution. 

Private Equity-Venture Capital (PE-VC) investors made 98 investments worth about $1,086 million (₹8,532 crore) in NICE Sectors during 2022. 23 PE-VC exit deals were made in NICE Sector companies harvesting about $885 million (₹6,954 crore) for their investors. Angel networks and super angels made 115 investments across NICE Sector Companies during the year. 

Sector-wise, the top three PE-VC investments went to the Food and Beverages category. Investments included Country Delight, Paradise Biryani and Impresario Entertainment & Hospitality. This was followed by Health, Beauty and Wellness; Fashion and Accessories; Home Decor and Furnishings and Experiential Tourism. In terms of geography, startups that raised funding hailed from four cities – Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad.
